On the morning of May 26, 2026, Dr. Giuseppe Rizzuto, a faculty member specializing in Chinese and Translation at the University of Palermo, visited the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) at Nankai University and delivered an academic lecture entitled “China–Italy Cultural Dialogue: Literature, Mobility, and Transnational Experiences” for faculty members and students of the Department of Italian.

Drawing on his extensive interdisciplinary research experience, Dr. Rizzuto systematically examined major authors and works in Chinese and Italian literature, exploring the complex interplay among population mobility, transnational experiences, and cultural production. He focused particularly on the linguistic practices of young Chinese Italians and members of overseas Chinese communities in Italy, while also elaborating on the concept of Sino Italian literature. His presentation enriched perspectives for faculty and students in the fields of Sinology, migration anthropology, and intercultural communication.
The lecture was met with great enthusiasm. During the Q&A session, faculty members and students engaged in in-depth discussions with Dr. Rizzuto on a range of emerging topics, including transnational writing in Chinese and Italian literature, identity construction among Chinese-Italian writers, linguistic norms within migrant communities, and translation strategies in multicultural contexts. Dr. Rizzuto addressed participants’ questions in detail, winning enthusiastic response from the audience. Faculty members and students noted that the lecture combined theoretical depth with practical relevance. It not only offered fresh perspectives for examining related academic issues, but also provided valuable insights for future research in Italian literature and intercultural communication.
