The 7th “Qiu Shi Cup” International Poetry Writing and Translation Competition final contest and award ceremony were held successfully at the School of Foreign Studies, Nankai University in Tianjin from March 27 to 29, 2026.

The competition was organized by the Chinese Association for Comparative Studies of Languages and Cultures and the School of International Studies, Zhejiang University. It is co-hosted by SFS, Nankai University, the Tianjin Foreign Literature Society, and the Zhejiang Association for Foreign Literature and Comparative Literature. More than ten domestic academic institutions and social organizations lend support as co-organizers. Since the call for submissions was issued, the organizing committee had received a total of 4,653 entries from students at 623 universities and in 553 majors across China and abroad, setting a new record in participation scale. Among them, 1,683 were writing entries (1,203 original manuscripts and 480 AI-generated manuscripts), and 2,970 were translation entries. This edition marks the first time an AI writing track was added, fully demonstrating university students’ exploration at the intersection of artificial intelligence and humanities creation. Translation entries covered six languages: English, German, Russian, French, Japanese, and Spanish, highlighting the event’s multilingual character and international vision. After multiple rigorous rounds of expert review at the provincial and national levels, over one hundred outstanding works finally advanced to the final contest.

The final contest maintained the high-standard review criteria of previous editions. The final contest followed clear rules, strict discipline, and rigorous scoring, proceeding in good order. Poetry writing and poetry translation (in six languages: English, German, Russian, French, Japanese, and Spanish) were divided into seven groups for evaluation. The jury brings together renowned poets and translators including Professor Gao Xing, Professor Liang Xiaoming, Professor Shen Wei, Professor Shu Cai, Professor Wang Jianzhao, Professor Zhao Zhenjiang, and Professor Zhang Zhizhong, as well as over ten professors and scholars in poetry studies. Adhering to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness, they conducted the best selection from the shortlisted works, ensuring the literary level and aesthetic height of the award-winning pieces, and ultimately determined the first and second prize winners of the final contest.

At the end of the ceremony, SFS prepared a wonderful artistic performance for all attendees. With the artistic performance and all agenda items successfully concluded, the award ceremony of the 7th “Qiu Shi Cup” International Poetry Writing and Translation Competition concluded successfully. The “Qiu Shi Cup” International Poetry Writing and Translation Competition holds significant value and contribution for promoting literary creation, cultural exchange, educational development, and enhancing the comprehensive quality of university students.
