The official approval list for the 2025 National Social Science Fund Special Grant for Rare and Endangered Studies has been released. Dr. Jiang Yundou, faculty member at the School of Foreign Studies (SFS), Nankai University, was awarded a Scholar Individual Grant for the project “Collection, Collation, and Study of Chinese Encyclopedias Found in Japanese-Collected Documents.” This was the only project approved in Tianjin Municipality for this funding cycle. The project focused on Chinese encyclopedias found in documents collected in Japan, bearing significant academic value for the study of Chinese classics scattered overseas and for expanding the scope of research on Sinological texts beyond China’s borders. Dr. Jiang specialized in Japanese classical literature and documents, as well as Sinological texts from outside mainland China. He had completed multiple research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund and the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Fund, and received the Tianjin Municipal Social Science Achievement Award.
SFS actively organized academic exchange activities, built platforms for domestic and international scholarly dialogue, and promoted theoretical innovation and practical development in the discipline. This grant award stood as a notable result of SFS’s strong emphasis on research project applications and its steady advancement of organized scientific research.
