2025 National Doctoral Forum on Foreign Language Teaching and Research and 5th Postgraduate Academic Forum of SFS, Nankai University Successfully Held

 From November 28th to 30th, 2025, the 2025 National Doctoral Forum on Foreign Language Teaching and Research and the 5th Postgraduate Academic Forum of the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Nankai University were successfully held at SFS, Nankai University. Aimed to provide efficient academic communication channels for experts, scholars and postgraduate students from all over the country, the forum was held at Nankai University offline this year.

 This forum is jointly sponsored by the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education of Beijing Foreign Studies University, the editorial department of Foreign Language Teaching and Research, the School of Foreign Studies of Nankai University and the China Association of Foreign Languages Curriculum Studies of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese. The forum covers English, Russian, Japanese, French, German and other languages, including theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics and foreign language education, translation studies, comparative literature and cross-cultural studies, foreign literature, national and regional studies and other frontier research fields, and has built a professional, equal and inclusive academic exchange platform for foreign language postgraduates nationwide.

 More than 200 graduate students from more than 100 famous universities at home and abroad, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Nankai University, participated in this academic forum. More than 40 experts were invited to participate in the evaluation of papers, more than 30 experts and scholars attended the forum to make academic comments and keynote speeches, 2 professors and 3 doctoral students gave special reports, and 22 sub-forums were organized for various disciplines, which fully demonstrated the diversified research ecology of foreign languages and the academic vitality of young scholars.

 At the same time, in the 14 sub-forums of the 5th Postgraduate Academic Forum of SFS of Nankai University, the participants made academic reports on the core research results of the submitted papers and exchanged cutting-edge views and research ideas in depth. Commentators give professional and meticulous guidance and feedback from research methods, innovation direction and other dimensions according to the report content of each reporting classmate. By listening to the reports of the same group and participating in interactive discussions, the participants realized the collision and blending of academic ideas, which not only drew lessons from the strengths of other people's research, but also gained new inspiration for the deepening and expansion of their own topics.

 On the morning of December 30th, the awarding ceremony of the 5th Postgraduate Academic Forum of SFS of Nankai University was held in the lecture hall 111 at SFS, Nankai University. This forum received a total of 434 papers from domestic and foreign college students. After two rounds of professional evaluation, 5 grand prizes, 8 first prizes, 10 second prizes and 17 third prizes were finally awarded.

 Later, Professor Zhang Wenzhong of Nankai University delivered a closing speech, in which he expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the participating doctoral students, experts and scholars who came to give guidance, and the staff who worked hard for the success of the forum. He pointed out that this forum has set up a high-level and deep-level communication platform for doctoral students in foreign language disciplines across the country, effectively promoting the cultivation and cross-integration of academic innovative thinking. He expects young scholars to take this opportunity to continue to deepen their studies and explore the unknown, and warmly invites everyone to continue to pay attention to and participate in graduate academic activities at SFS, Nankai University in the future.
