On November 29th, 2025, the “China University English Debating Competition (CUDC)” ended successfully. After fierce competition, graduate student Li Miao and undergraduate student Liu Yuqi from the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Nankai University stood out from 98 colleges and universities in China, winning the national championship and the best debater award, earning honors for Nankai University.


CUDC is sponsored by the China Accreditation Test for Translators and InterpretersProject Management Center of China International Communications Group and guided by the China National Committee for Graduate Education of Translation and Interpreting. It is a national English Debate Competition with many participating institutions. With solid English language skills, rigorous logical thinking and calm on-the-spot response, the two students from Nankai University successfully made it through five rounds of round robin and three rounds of elimination, and finally made outstanding performance in the semi-finals and won the championship.
Nankai University has always attached importance to the coordinated development of discipline construction and the improvement of students’ comprehensive quality. In the process of preparing for the competition, the school attaches great importance to the organization and selection of the competition. SFS closely combines the competition training with the curriculum system, and takes “solid foundation, strong ability and valued innovation” as the training goal to build a systematic and professional preparation platform for students. In recent years, Nankai students have won awards frequently in various national English competitions. The excellent achievements of Li Miao and Liu Yuqi fully demonstrate the superb English comprehensive quality of SFS students, especially their cross-cultural thinking.
