On the afternoon of October 24, 2025, Zhang Zhiguang from Zhonghua Book Company and Tong Xing from SDX Joint Publishing Company were invited to deliver a lecture on Chinese academic translation projects of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) at the School of Foreign Studies (SFS), Nankai University. The lecture was chaired by Prof. Li Min, Vice Dean of the School, and was attended by nearly 40 faculty members.
The lecture focused on three key aspects of the program: the application and implementation process, strategies for selecting research topics, and experiences from teachers who have applied the project successfully. Drawing on data from recent years regarding funded projects under the program, the two experts provided a systematic overview and in-depth analysis, offering practical suggestions on how to select appropriate topics for application. They also gave detailed explanations of several crucial stages in the application process, including team formation, communication with publishing houses, and the preparation of application materials. During the Q&A session that followed, the experts responded to individual questions from faculty members and provided targeted guidance.
Rich in content and clearly focused, the lecture enhanced faculty members’ understanding of the application process for Chinese academic translation projects of NSSFC. It also fostered a positive atmosphere for academic exchange, helping faculty accumulate valuable experience for future applications and laying a solid foundation for achieving higher-level research outcomes.
