The Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council released the list of degree awarding points cancelled and added by the independent degree awarding audit institutions in 2024, and the newly added degree awarding points for Doctor of Translation (DTI), independently audited by Nankai University, were officially approved.

School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Nankai University was successfully awarded the DTI and became one of the first institutions nationwide authorized to confer this degree. This achievement represents another significant achievement of the SFS’s efforts to actively serve national strategies, respond to international communication needs, uphold Nankai’s longstanding tradition in translation studies, and advance the development of the translation discipline. It further underscores the SFS’s historical legacy and leading role within the field of foreign languages.
In 2007, SFS of Nankai University was approved to set up a program of Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI), becoming one of the first universities nationwide to offer this professional degree. The successful addition of the DTI program now signifies that SFS has established a comprehensive undergraduate-to-doctoral talent cultivation system in the field of translation, further consolidating its disciplinary strengths.
