On June 16, 2025, the Department of Arabic Language at Nankai University held a successful online meeting with Umm Al-Qura University in Saudi Arabia. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on student exchange, teaching material sharing, faculty training, expert lectures, and speciality cooperation, and expressed strong willingness to further deepen collaboration. Participants included Prof. Wang Kai, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) at Nankai University; Prof. Dou Tianjiao, Head of the Department of Arabic Language; faculty members Dr. Huang Haofei, Dr. Su Chuting, and Dr. Alnahdi Yousef; as well as the Dean of the College of Arabic Language at Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdul Rahman, and the Assistant Dean.

Umm Al-Qura University, founded in 1949, is one of the most representative and largest universities in Saudi Arabia. Renowned for its strengths in Arabic language teaching and research, the university hosts multiple departments related to Arabic culture, language, and history.

Since its establishment in 2018, the Department of Arabic Language at Nankai University has been committed to cultivating Arabic-language professionals with global vision and strong intercultural communication competencies. The cooperation with Umm Al-Qura University is expected to further enhance the international influence of the Department of Arabic Language at Nankai University and create broader platforms of cultural exchanges for the young students of both countries.
