
On April 11th, the book donation ceremony from the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Nankai University to Shangduhe Primary School in Caimushan Township, Duolun County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was held online.
Attendees included Ms. Mu Xiangwang, Party Secretary of SFS of Nankai University; Gao Ruwu, Deputy County Magistrate of Duolun County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; Professor Zhang Wenzhong, Director of the Nankai University’s Chinese-style Modernization Rural Workstation in Duolun County; Wang Qingshan, Deputy Director of the Duolun County Cares for the Next Generation Working Committee; Wang Chunshu, Principal of Shangduhe Primary School; Jia Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Science and Technology Bureau; Prof. Ma Hongqi and Ms. Xiang Yu, Vice Deans of SFS; alumnus Lu Xuejun, Director of the Nankai University’s Chinese-style Modernization Rural Workstation in Duolun County; Bai Yonggeng, former Chair of the Trade Union of SFS; Wang Yin, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of the School of Foreign Languages; along with other leaders, faculty, alumni from both sides, and all students from Shangduhe Primary School attended the event. Chen Yanhe, Deputy Secretary of the Caimushan Township Communist Party Committee, presided over the online book donation ceremony.
Professor Zhang Wenzhong donated 300 books to the Shangduhe Primary School. This carefully curated collection spans literature, popular science, history, foreign languages, education, and other fields, addressing diverse reading interests and needs across age groups. It aims to enrich students’ extracurricular lives, broaden their reading horizons, enhance their comprehensive quality, and expand library collections. Wang Chunshu accepted the donation online, presented certificates to SFS, Nankai University and Professor Zhang Wenzhong, and expressed sincere gratitude to Nankai University.
Sharing care and immersing in books, Gao Ruwu stated that the book donation initiative will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen collaboration with SFS and Nankai University in key areas, including primary and secondary teacher training, curriculum seminars, student research trips, rural basic education, cultural tourism development, and specialty industry growth. He pledged to establish a mutual assistance mechanism with Nankai University’s Chinese-style Modernization Rural Workstation in Duolun County. Leveraging Nankai University’s talent and intellectual resources, this collaboration aims to elevate the county’s educational standards, propel Duolun County’s comprehensive socioeconomic development, and inject fresh momentum into the advancement of rural revitalization.
Ms. Mu Xiangwang stated that both the university and the local government will engage in extensive cooperation across many fields, with Nankai University’s Chinese-style Modernization Rural Workstation in Duolun County serving as the platform by using books as a means to improve rural basic education. She also reflected on the development of their collaboration since the establishment of the workstation. This book donation signifies the continuation and deepening of that partnership, embodying Nankai University’s philosophy of “Knowing China, Serving China” and showcasing the university’s dedication to supporting rural education and advancing educational equity. Moving forward, the university and local government will collaborate to ensure that the power of knowledge takes root, grows, and yields results in the rural areas of Duolun County.
