To further enhance the management of international student education, improve the quality of academic programs, and promote communication between faculty and students, the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) at Nankai University held a symposium for undergraduate international students on October 24, 2024. Attending the event were Vice Dean Wang Kai, International Student Affairs Officer Li Huiwen, and student representatives from South Korea, Malaysia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Japan, and other countries.
Vice Dean Wang Kai extended warm regards to the international students regarding their academic and daily life. He shared the School’s current policies and expectations concerning the education of international students. On behalf of SFS, he presented participants with a copy of Xi's Discourses on Education. He also shared insights on how to study effectively, improve academic research capabilities, and better integrate into Chinese society, encouraging students to deepen their understanding of contemporary China and serve as bridges for cultural exchange between their home countries and China.
During the discussion session, the international students actively shared the challenges they encountered in their studies, daily life, and academic research, and offered suggestions. Wang Kai responded to concerns regarding communication mechanisms, course progression, class selection procedures, and scholarship evaluations, providing detailed explanations. He also stated that SFS would continue to improve conditions to support international students’ academic and personal development and to foster a welcoming and comfortable environment.
This symposium served as an effective platform for dialogue between the School and its international students, reinforcing the School’s commitment to supporting international students and enhancing their sense of belonging. It also contributed new momentum to the School’s efforts to raise the quality of international student education and advance the internationalization of its academic programs.
