On the morning of October 9th, 2024, Professor Raúl Burgos, Director of Instituto de Estudos sobre a China (China Institute) of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil), visited the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Nankai University. Dean Professor Yan Guodong held a meeting with guests, discussing about the potential cooperation.
Professor Raúl Burgos gave a detailed introduction to the scale and faculty, the state of scientific research and innovation, the international exchange projects and the campus environment of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. He expressed the hope to establish a multi-level cooperative relationship with SFS. Professor Yan Guodong gave an overview of SFS's overall development, as its faculty, discipline construction and the Portuguese language talents cultivation. He said that Brazil is a key exchange country for Portuguese majors in SFS and a major target country for their future employment, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina is an important place for scientific research and innovation in Brazil, and SFS hopes to promote the diversified training of students together with it.
The two sides had a thorough discussion and came to an agreement on several issues including student exchanges, teacher mutual visits and academic exchanges, teachers of the Portuguese Department attended.
