The School of Foreign Studies has sent research teams to Beisitu Middle School, Hejian city for in-depth research activities since the Nankai University Hejian Village Workstation was established in 2023. On June 7th, 2024, under the guidance of China Association of Foreign Languages Curriculum Studies (CAFLCS) and the research team of “Virtual Teaching and Research Sections for Foreign Language Education Integrating Education and Research”, and with the support of Nankai University Hejian Village Workstation, Beisitu Middle School in Hejian, Hebei Province formally established the Beisitu English Club and launched the first "English Week". Under the leadership of Professor Zhang Wenzhong, 8 students from the English Department of the School of Foreign Languages of Nankai University and 3 undergraduates from the Foreign Language Department of Cangzhou Normal University went to Beisitu Middle School to promote and witness this historic event.
Cai Yintong, stationmaster of Nankai University Hejian Village Workstation, executive president of the Branch of Foreign Languages of Nankai Alumni Association, Professor Zhang Wenzhong of Nankai University, Vice President Cui Qingchao of Cangzhou Alumni Association of Nankai University, Vice President Ma Yanjun of Zunzuzhuang School District, Deputy Director Liu Yurong of Education Technology and Equipment Service Center of Bureau of Education and Sports of Hejian, President Chen Jinliang of Hejian Beisitu Middle School and nearly 60 teachers and students from Nankai University, Cangzhou Normal College and Beisitu Middle School attended the event.
This activity was divided into three parts: the opening ceremony, the first "English Week" performance and the “Happy English” garden party. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Xie Shuo of Beisitu Middle School, and Prof. Zhang Wenzhong, Mr. Cai Yintong and Mr. Cui Qingchao delivered speeches successively, congratulating the establishment of the English Club in Beisitu Middle School, fully affirming and earnestly hoping for the role of the English Club in improving the level and effect of English teaching. Liu Yurong, Ma Yanjun and Prof. Zhang Wenzhong presented admission certificates and badges to the first twenty members of the English community.
The second activity was the "English Week" performance, which included five fun and interesting English activities. In various activities, students freely formed groups and participated delightfully. These activities were carefully designed by the teacher and student team of Nankai University and Cangzhou Normal University, and the members of Beisitu English Club happily participated to improve their English application ability through games.
The third activity is “Happy English” garden party. All the students can participate in games such as “Detective”, “I know the words”, “Read Aloud” and “Free Talk”. They actively participated in every small game, actively communicated in English and bravely expressed themselves.
The first "English Week" performance ended in a happy atmosphere, and the students were all full of gains. The leaders and teachers who participated in the activity spoke highly of the effect of this activity and looking forward to the next activity. Everyone hopes to stimulate students' interest in learning English by holding relevant English learning activities regularly, so as to achieve the effect of improving their English learning performance.
Since its establishment in the summer of 2023, with the promotion and cooperation of leaders, teachers and students from the School of Foreign Studies of Nankai University, the Nankai University Hejian Village Workstation has actively explored the mode and path to develop Hejian education, and has organized more than ten teams to Hejian for various exchange activities.
