In order to better inherit the traditional culture and customs, create a strong festive atmosphere, and leave wonderful Nankai memories for the 2024 graduates, the School of Foreign Studies carried out a Dragon Boat Festival theme activity on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival on June 10th, in which the 2024 graduates, class instructors and foreign teachers experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture together.

Taking on the national memory and culture of China, teachers and students gathered at the School of Foreign Studies to appreciate the profound cultural connotation and rich folk activities of the Dragon Boat Festival. At the event, bamboo leaves and mugwort were decorated, and a signature plate with festival characteristics was set up. Through their hand-drawn zongzi illustrations, theteachers and students sent their warmest wishes. Chinese and international teachers and students made zongzi, mugwort sachets and bouquets together, and enjoyed the fun of being traditional "craftsmen" during the exercise. It also allowed them to feel Chinese culture and customs in action and helped them fully comprehend the cultural significance of the Dragon Boat Festival.

Ji Zehui, an undergraduate English major, said that making zongzi is difficult but interesting, and the sachet made by himself is also an unforgettable memory of four years’ life in Nankai. In the future, he will continue to carry forward the Nankai tradition and the spirit of the School of Foreign Studies, and will contribute to the telling of China's story and the cultivation of the new generation.

The "International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations," recently declared by the UN and proposed by China, fell on the same day as this year's Dragon Boat Festival. In an effort to encourage cultural nutrient acquisition through dialogue and exchange, the School of Foreign Studies invited Chinese and internationalteachers and students to take part in the Dragon Boat Festival. This not only renewed the vitality of traditional culture on campus, but also gave the graduates' time in Nankai a memorable touch.
