Nankai University Hosts the Rematch of the 4th "SFLEP. VocabGo Cup" National English Vocabulary Contest

On May 12th, forty-two students from various colleges of Nankai University participated in the finals held at the Balitai and Jinnan campuses. Among them were 33 undergraduates from non-English majors, 6 from English majors, and 3 graduate students.


During the rematch, the forty-two participants demonstrated spirited performances, showcasing their strong English vocabulary foundation and adaptive skills in the intense competition. Four undergraduates from Nankai University's English major received second prizes, while two received third prizes. In the non-English major group, three students received special prizes, ten received first prizes, twelve received second prizes, and five received third prizes. Among graduate students, one received a second prize and two received third prizes. Ultimately, thirteen participants advanced to the next round of the national competition. The School of Foreign Studies will provide intensive pre-competition training and guidance to ensure excellent performance in the national finals.

The Competition is jointly organized by the China Center for Language Planning and Policy Studies, the Chinese Foreign Language Materials and Pedagogics Research Center, and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It covers content such as CET-4 and CET-6, TEM-4 and TEM-8 vocabulary as well as political vocabulary. Conducted through online testing, the competition integrates English knowledge with the joy of learning and spirit of the time. Its goal is to promote learning through competition, significantly enhance students' foreign language output capabilities, and serve as an effective tool for advancing educational and classroom reforms. This initiative aims to cultivate applied talents with both Chinese values and an international perspective. Additionally, through the “VocabGo” assessment system, real-time feedback on participants' performance allows for detailed analysis, offering valuable insights for teachers' future teaching endeavors.
