Prof Liu Wenfei gives an academic lecture at CFL

On the afternoon of December 1, Professor Liu Wenfei, Director of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Capital Normal University, Vice President of the Institute of Russian, East Europe and Central Asia Studies, and awardee of the Friendship Medal of the Russian Federation gave an academic lecture titled “Russian Literature in the History of Russian Literature” to the faculty and students of. Teachers and students from the Russian Department at the College of Foreign Languages listened to the lecture together. The lecture was hosted by Professor Yan Guodong, the Dean of the College of Foreign Languages.

Professor Liu Wenfei shared the writing process and experience of the “General History of Russian Literature,” an NSSFC Key Program. The project “General History of Russian Literature,” led by Liu Wenfei, is a six-volume project. The lengthy introduction to general history serves as the “history within a history” of the General History of Russian Literature. With the unique perspective of Chinese scholars, Prof Liu Wenfei objectively, scientifically, and accurately comprehends the historical lineage of Russian literature from ancient times to the post-Soviet era. He elucidates the stylistic, functional, censorship, periodicals, popularization, and acceptance of the history of Russian literature.

Professor Wang Zhigeng, from the School of Literature at Nankai University, delivered a concluding speech on the lecture. As a project participant, Professor Wang shared his personal experience of writing the project and engaged in open and in-depth discussions with teachers and students from the Department of Russian Language. The lecture enhanced the understanding of Russian literature history for both teachers and students. It expanded their research horizons and played a significant role in guiding postgraduate students specializing in Russian literature in selecting their thesis topics.
