“Zhao Wei Scholarship” Awarded for the Fifth Time

The College of Foreign Languages held the fifth awarding ceremony for “Zhao Wei Scholarship” for Undergraduates of the Japanese Department.

Attendees at the event are Professor Yan Guodong, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University; Professor Ma Hongqi, Vice Dean of the Collge; Ms. Xiang Yu, Deputy Secretaryof the Party Committee; Professor Han Lihong, Director of the Japanese Department; Professor Wang Xinxin, Deputy Director of the Japanese Department and class instructor; Associate Professor Sun Xuemei; Associate Professor Zheng Lin; Mr. Zhao Guoqiang, Director of the Alumni Office of the College, and five award-winning students.

This scholarship is set exclusively for freshmen at Japanese department and is the only scholarship for freshmen in the College. The founder of the scholarship is Professor Zhao Wei, who is a famous expert on atomic energy law in China currently serving as the President of the Alumni Association of the College of Foreign Languages and a doctoral supervisor at China University of Political Science and Law. Professor Zhao is a distinguished alumnus of the Japanese Department who graduated in 1979. the head of the Global Law Issue Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, the initiator of “Law Popularity Circulation in China”, the officer and deputy head of the Legislation Expert Committee of Xiong’an New Area. Meanwhile, he is also the ambassador of the 100th Anniversary of Nankai University, the councilor and president of Nankai Alumni Association of Foreign Language and Literature, and the director of Nankai Alumni Association of Entrepreneurs.


The awarding ceremony was hosted by Professor Ma Hongqi, Vice Dean of the College of Foreign Languages. Professor Han Lihong, Director of the Japanese Department, introduced the five award-winning students. Professor Zhao Wei then presented the award and certificates to the five students and took a group photo with them.

The five students from the Japanese Department are Zhang Beibei, Li Yiran, Hong Zhichao, Chu Mingyang, and Jiang Siqing. While expressing their appreciation, they expressed their determination to follow the example of Prof Zhao Wei and truly live up to expectations on them described in the university motto: dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability.
