Briefing on Joint Training Program of Nankai University andthe University of Wales Trinity Saint David Held

On November 16, the “Introduction to Exchange Programs for Globalized Development” began with the briefing on Joint Training Program of Nankai University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was held at the academic lecture hall of the College of Foreign Languages. More than 100 undergraduates attended the briefing. Also present to the event are Associate Professor Hui Chunping from the English Department and Associate Professor Zhang Qiang from the Translation Department. Vice Dean Wang Kai, in his welcoming remarks, expressed his confidence in the cooperation between the two universities, his emphasis on student training, and his hopes for the students to participate in the exchange program.

The briefing was given by Mr. Zhang Xian, Director of the Beijing Office of UWTSD. Mr. Zhang first introduced the history of UWTSD, its cooperation with Chinese universities, its diversified campus environment, and the highlighted disciplines of these campuses, with references to the university’s long history, rich cultural heritage, abundant educational resources, and diversified disciplines. Afterward, Mr. Zhang explained in detail the joint training programs of the two universities, namely the “2 + 2” joint training program for undergraduates and the joint training programme for graduate students. He pointed out that UWTSD can provide students with better guidance, higher education quality, and more exposure to different cultures in the world. In addition, Ms. He Jiaying, 2021undergraduate majoring in English in Nankai and the International Business Management Programme in UWTSD, introduced the campus life of UWTSD through online video. Finally, Mr. Zhang Xian gave a detailed description on the application.

Adhering to the talent cultivation concept of “foreign language expertise, humanistic literacy, international vision, Chinese affection, and Nankai characteristics”, the College is committed to the internationalized development and cultivation of students, and will offer more similar events to further promote the integration of recruitment, training and employment of foreign language talents.
