On the afternoon of November 21, Associate Professor Conor Mulvagh from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, visited the College of Foreign Languages at Nankai University. He was invited by the College to give an academic lecture titled “Memory in History” for all the faculty and students. Before the lecture, Conor Mulvagh delivered a comprehensive introduction to the history, characteristics, professional training, and education and teaching at the University of Dublin. He encouraged students to visit and study at the University of Dublin. During the lecture, Conor Mulvagh provided a comprehensive explanation and analysis of various topics related to memory. These included memory theory, memory sites, memory construction, reconstruction and deconstruction, individual and collective memory, trauma, recollection, and remembrance.
During the interactive session, both teachers and students actively asked questions. Professor Conor Mulvagh answered all their questions, and the students and teachers expressed that they had greatly benefited from the lecture. The lecture was successfully concluded with thunderous applause. Professor Liu Ying, the Director of the CFL Centre for Foreign Literature Studies, presided over the lecture. Master and doctoral students, as well as undergraduates from the Department of English and Translation, participated in thelecture.
