On October 25th, the Chinese and foreign media delegation of “Travelogue of China,” organized by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and Network Communication Bureau, visited the College of Foreign Languages at Nankai University. A total of 13 Chinese and foreign media representatives from China, Argentina, Peru, Panama, and other countries and regions participated in the delegation. Accompanied by teachers and students from the Spanish Department, the media delegation visited the Nankai campus and participated in experiential activities at the College of Foreign Languages.

Teachers and students from the Spanish Department of the College of Foreign Languages held a cultural performance at CFL (Langyuan) to warmly welcome the delegation. The performance showcased strong Chinese characteristics and the local flavor of Tianjin. Xiang Yu, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, delivered a speech at the event. Asso. Prof. Gu Jiawei, the Chair of the Spanish Department, presented a wonderful pipa (Chinese lute) performance titled “Send You a Rose.” This performance showcased the diverse humanistic qualities of Nankai Spanish learners. Wang Tianyu, a sophomore student, performed Chinese martial arts, winning the admiration and applause of the foreign guests. The two Spanish teachers, Wu Ruilong from Venezuela and Mo Qilin from Spain brought the show to a climax with their performance of Spanish crosstalk (Xiangsheng), a traditional Chinese comedy originating from Tianjin. The two teachers, dressed in long shirts (cheongsam), were radiant with delight, and their witticisms made the venue erupt in laughter during their wonderful performances.

The visit of the Chinese and foreign media delegation for the “Travelogue of China” in Tianjin lasted for three days. During the visit, over 10 students from the Department of Spanish, organized and led by Dr. Mi Tian, acted as interpreters and volunteers throughout the visit. Their goal was to fully showcase the foreign language proficiency, humanistic literacy, international perspective, Chinese hospitality, and unique characteristics of Nankai Spanish learners.
