On June 25, 2023, Nankai University hosted the Training Session on the Application of Knowledge Illustration and Virtual Teaching Research Centers among Universities in Tianjin. Professor Zhang Wenzhong, person in charge of National Virtual Teaching and Research Section and professor at the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, was invited to share the experiences in developing virtual teaching and research sections for “foreign language education integrating education and research”.
Professor Zhang introduced the early preparations, goals, operation mechanisms and results for developing virtual teaching and research sections, including the process and results in co-developing foreign language curriculums in universities across the country. He also presented the empowering and performance-enhancing official account platform for foreign language education, as well as dozens of teaching reform projects awarded by members of the teaching and research section based on “empowering and performance-enhancing ideal for foreign language education”. In his concluding remarks, Professor Zhang summarized the challenges in developing virtual teaching and research sections, and the future directions to work on.
Over 100 university lecturers and responsible persons for the matter from 23 universities in Tianjin participated in the event. They also expressed the intention to draw on Professor Zhang’s valuable experience and improve the quality of developing Virtual Teaching and Research Sections.
