On June 1 and 2, Department of Foreign Language for Non-Majors of the College of Foreign Languages held two seminars in Room 514 of the Main Teaching Building, respectively on the empowerment of college English teaching through Unipus (an online teaching platform issued by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press) and WE (an online teaching platform designed by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press). These two seminars aim to meet the requirements of foreign language teaching in the digital, internet-based, and intelligent era, promote the transition from "large-scale standardized teaching" to "large-scale personalized and intelligent teaching", and help teachers efficiently apply smart online platforms in foreign language teaching.
Professor Ma Hongqi, Vice Dean of the College and Director of Department of Foreign Language for Non-Majors, attended and presided over the meeting. Jian Yue and Tang Lei, vice directors of the Department, attended the meeting with other directors and teachers of teaching and research offices.
At the meeting, the relevant persons in charge of the two platforms made a comprehensive introduction of their functions. Chen Jiafu, Director of the College English Teaching and Research Office of the Basic Science College of Tianjin Agricultural University, gave a lecture on how to apply intelligent teaching platforms in blended college English teaching and assessment. The participating teachers had in-depth exchanges on platform usage.
Through this series of seminars, teachers of Department of Foreign Language for Non-Majorsgain a clearer understanding of how to employ smart teaching platforms in college English teaching. The Department will further refine and implement the use program. It is expected that in September 2023, Nankai University will use the relevant smart teaching platforms in all English courses.
