In order to further study and implement Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese Characteristics in a new era, continue to promote educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Eurasian countries and within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and strive to cultivate Russian language talents who can "tell Chinese stories", the final of the 2022 National Russian Language Competition for Universities, sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Shanghai International Studies University, was held in Shanghai. Under the leadership of our mentor Huang Mingtuo, Guo Yi and Chen Xi, students from the Russian Department of the College of Foreign Languages, represented Nankai University in the competition and achieved excellent results.

In November 2022, the preliminary competition was held online, with nearly 400 contestants from various universities across the country competing online. In the end, 60 contestants stood out and gathered at Shanghai International Studies University for the semi-finals and finals. On the morning of May 6th, 2023, the opening ceremony of the 2022 National College Russian Competition was held in Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University.

The semi-finals were conducted through propositional speeches, oral expressions, and other methods. The final content included Russian-Chinese translation and dialogue interpretation. The 60 contestants who have won the first, second, and third prizes will be fully funded by the Secretariat of China Scholarship Council to study or pursue degrees in Russia.

After a day and a half of intense competition, both contestants from our college achieved excellent results. Among them, Chen Xi from the lower-grade group won third prize, while Guo Yi from the higher-grade group won second prize. The excellent performance of the contestants not only demonstrated their high comprehensive ability to use Russian, but also won honors for Nankai University. Our college's contestants are coached by teachers Wang Lidan and Huang Mingtuo from the Russian Department.

This competition provides an opportunity for students majoring in Russian from different schools across the country to showcase their talents, and also provides a broader platform for teachers and students to exchange and learn Russian. It allows talents with excellent cross-cultural communication skills to stand out, which is of great significance for the development of Russian education in China and the dissemination of Chinese culture in the future.
