On the afternoon of March 27, 2023, a delegation from the Beijing Office of the Association for the Internationalization of Japanese National Autonomies (Clair Beijing Office) visited the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University. They conducted a discussion with representatives of Japanese language majors, teachers and students on local exchanges between China and Japan. The seminar was hosted by Wang Kai, Associate Professor and Vice Dean of the College of Foreign Languages.

Prof. Han Lihong, head of the Department of Japanese Language, introduced the history and evolution of Nankai Japanese Language and welcomed the arrival of Mr. Shigehiro Konmatsu, director of Clair Beijing Office. After that, Shigeo Konmatsu introduced in detail about the Japanese Association for Internationalization of Autonomous Bodies and shared the local system in Japan and the current situation of local exchange between China and Japan. Students and faculty members also discussed and exchanged views with the guests on the private exchanges between the two countries in terms of economy, education and culture.

Professor Wang Xinxin, Deputy Head of the Department of Japanese Language, commented and summarized the symposium.

The participating students expressed that the exchange activities had further expanded their horizons and prompted them to think and feel more deeply about the exchanges between China and Japan. The students hope to further strengthen their knowledge of language and culture in the future and strive to be respectful and tolerant conversationalists, practitioners of knowledge and practice, and builders of a diverse world, so as to inject more fresh positive energy into the development of Sino-Japanese relations.
