On September 15, Zhu Fuhua, a 2002-grade alumnus of the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, director of Nankai Foreign Languages Alumni Association and chairman of Tianjin Duanmu Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., went to Nankai University to donate money and set up the “Russian Undergraduate Scholarship”. In this way, he expressed his love for NKU as well as gratitude to his teacher and alma mater.
Mu Xiangwang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages, Yan Guodong, Dean of the College, Xiang Yu, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Dean, Ma Hongqi, Deputy Dean, Wang Lidan, Director of the Russian Department, Zhao Guoqiang, Director of the Alumni Office of the College as well as award-winning students attended the ceremony.
The “Russian Undergraduate Scholarship” is mainly used to reward undergraduate students who are excellent both in conduct and learning in the Russian department.
At the meeting, Professor Wang Lidan introduced Zhu Fuhua. Since his graduation 16 years ago, he has been concerned about the construction and development of NKU and the College and actively participated in the activities of the Nankai Foreign Languages Alumni Association. He has made outstanding contributions in helping graduates to find jobs and donating to education. Professor Wang hoped that the students who won the scholarship today would keep studying hard, living up to the expectations of the alumnus and feeding back the society and their alma mater after graduation.
Professor Yan Guodong presented the honorary certificate for his establishment of “Russian Undergraduate Scholarship” to Mr. Zhu Fuhua. Professor Yan Guodong expressed his gratitude to Mr. Zhu for supporting the talent cultivation and education of the College. He encouraged Russian undergraduates to improve their language skills, broaden their international horizons and become capable and responsible foreign language talents. At the same time, the College will also rely on the platform of the Nankai Foreign Languages Alumni Association to stimulate the enthusiasm of alumni to participate in the construction and development of the College and actively do a good job in all-round and distinctive global foreign language alumni work.
Zhu Fuhua delivered the award certificates to Zhang Yifan, Cao Huini and Liu Lu, three students of the Russian Department who won the scholarship for the first time. He said that the sophomore year is the most important turning point in the university stage. He encouraged the students to have a solid grasp of what they have learned, cherish their youth, lay a solid foundation and grow into the backbone of the country.
Secretary Mrs. Mu Xiangwang said that the establishment of the “Russian Undergraduate Scholarship” by Zhu Fuhua reflects the care for his alma mater and the support for the development of the College. She encouraged undergraduates of the Russian Department to follow Zhu Fuhua as an example and serve the country with what they have learned.
