Under the current situation of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, in order to further strengthen the employment of graduates and improve the employment quality of graduates, the college of foreign languages recently held the 2022 graduate employment promotion meeting and 2023 undergraduate employment briefing meeting to talk about the current employment situation of graduates online and help the development of graduates’ job hunting. Mu Xiangwang, Secretary of the Party committee of the college, Yan Guodong, President, Ma Hongqi, vice presidents, Wang Kai and other members of the leading group of the college, heads of departments, tutors and all counselors of 2018 and 2019 undergraduate classes attended the online meeting, which was presided over by Xiang Yu, deputy Secretary of the Party committee and vice president.
At the beginning of the meeting, Xiang Yu introduced the main agenda of the employment promotion meeting and the current progress of the employment work of the college of foreign languages, and made a detailed introduction to the contents of the 2022 Tianjin college graduates employment conference held on April 7. Subsequently, Wang Ai, the 2022 undergraduate instructor, and Zhou Wenyu, the 2022 graduate instructor, gave a detailed description of the current employment progress of undergraduate and graduate students in their graduation grades and the next employment work. Cui Liyue, the instructor for 2019 undergraduates, also introduced the employment survey of 2023 undergraduates and the schedule and key contents of future employment promotion.
Then, the dean of each department and the tutor of each class of graduation grade had an in-depth exchange on the current employment situation of graduates, and put forward suggestions on the implementation and direction of employment promotion in the future.
At the meeting, Mu Xiangwang emphasized the importance and necessity of employment work, believed that the college still had great potential and space for development, put forward the linkage of counselors, department heads and tutors, and gave suggestions at three levels. Mu Xiangwang also proposed that early preparations should be made for next year’s employment work. It is necessary to strengthen the awareness of goals, strengthen the communication between teachers and students, unify ideas and multi-party linkage, strengthen the pre-employment guidance, and help students establish a correct outlook on employment and career choice in advance.
Subsequently, Yan Guodong made a speech on the concept of student employment, introduced the talent training objectives of the college in detail to the teachers and students of the college, and stressed that the employment work is closely related to the talent training of the college. In terms of employment outlook, Yan Guodong believes that the current industry selection and geographical selection of graduates have the problem of simplification. He hopes that students will focus more on the long term, have more lofty aspirations and feelings, strengthen the improvement of their own ideological and humanistic quality, and go to the place most needed by the motherland. Yan Guodong also stressed that the employment work should comply with the wishes of students, and analyzed the current employment situation and put forward suggestions from the aspects of postgraduate entrance examination, civil servants and studying abroad.
Finally, Ma Hongqi made a detailed introduction to the construction of the master’s program of foreign language and literature of the college, and introduced the main professional types and enrollment of the master’s program from two aspects: academic and professional. Wang Kai introduced the international cooperation program of the college's graduate students, made specific explanations on the school level international cooperation program of Nankai University, the international cooperation program of the College of foreign languages and the joint training program of graduate students, and answered the students' related puzzles in detail.

Under the background of the normalization of epidemic prevention and control and the increasingly fierce employment competition, the College of foreign languages held this employment promotion meeting to talk about the employment development of graduates online, which pointed out the direction and key points for further strengthening the employment assistance and guidance of graduates in the future.
