At 7:30 p.m. on March 16, 2022, the first working meeting of the virtual teaching and research office of foreign language teaching and research of the Ministry of Education was held online with the theme of “integrated construction planning of teaching and scientific research”. The virtual teaching and research office was initiated by the empowerment foreign language teaching team of Nankai University, with the strong support of 5 vice presidents and 27 presidents of colleges and universities. It has been expanded to 130 member colleges and about 700 backbone members.
The meeting was presided over by Professor Zhang Wenzhong of the school of foreign languages, Nankai University and the head of the virtual teaching and Research Office of the integration of teaching and scientific research and foreign language teaching and research of the Ministry of education. Professor Zhou Zhen, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Ningxia University, Professor Chang Junyue, vice president of Dalian Foreign Studies University, Professor Sun Jisheng, vice president of the Foreign Affairs College, Professor Zhang Longhai, vice president of Minnan Normal University, and Dr. Chang Xiaoling, deputy secretary and deputy editor in chief of foreign language teaching and Research Press, delivered speeches successively.
Subsequently, Professor Zhang Wenzhong of Nankai University explained the work plan on the construction of virtual teaching and research room. Professor Zhang introduced the overall objectives and specific tasks of the virtual teaching and research office in detail to the participating experts and teachers, and explained the preliminary arrangement of the teaching and research area of the office.
Finally, Professor Zhang Wenzhong pointed out that the virtual teaching and research office of foreign language teaching and research integrated with teaching and scientific research of the Ministry of Education will build the office into a foreign language teaching and research development community for the better development of every foreign college and every foreign language person.
Members of the virtual teaching and research office and nearly 600 foreign language teachers from colleges and universities across the country participated in the working meeting through Dingding video conference or live website. After the meeting, the participating teachers thanked Professor Zhang Wenzhong and his core team for the careful organization of the meeting and the careful design of the work of the virtual teaching and research room, and expressed their confidence and expectation for the future development of the virtual teaching and research room.
