1.About the Department & University
As one of the key universities of China, Nankai University was founded in 1919, and is situated in one of the 4 municipalities directly administered by the central government. The College of foreign Languages has been built on the basis of the four earliest majors, English, German, French and Japanese, with a history of more than 100 years. At present, there are 10 departments (English, Russian, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic and Translation), 1 department of English-teaching for non-English majors, 7 research centers and 1 post-doctoral research station at the college.
Since its establishment, the English Department has been industriously engaged in educational practice according to the strategic demands of the country and the needs of social development. The department has provided education to a large number of professionals with high proficiency in both Chinese and English, well educated in literature and culture, and with great knowledge of humanities and social sciences. It has also trained an equal number of talents with abundant general knowledge in independent thinking, effective interpersonal exchange, and professional judgement-making. Graduates at different levels from the department are highly capable of not only developing careers in foreign affairs, international cultural exchange and communication, and foreign trade, but also receiving further education domestically and overseas and carrying out teaching and research work in related fields.
The Department of English is now recruiting staff members, both domestically and overseas, with no limit to nationality.
2. Conditions and Requirements
1) The Recruitment of High-leveled Professionals
A. Title and Age: Professors (under 50), associate professors (under 45) of Chinese or Foreign nationalities
B. Field or Orientation of Research: English and American Literature, Linguistics, translation and studies of countries and areas.
2) The Recruitment of Young Teachers
A. Title and Age: Graduates with PhD degrees from prestigious universities in China or overseas (under 35) of Chinese or Foreign nationalities
B. Field or Orientation of Research: English and American Literature, Linguistics, translation and studies of countries and areas.
3) Post Doctors
A. Title and Age: Graduates with PhD degrees from prestigious universities in China or overseas (under 35, graduated less than 3 years ago) of Chinese or Foreign nationalities
B. Field or Orientation of Research: English and American Literature, Linguistics, translation and studies of countries and areas.
4) The Recruitment of Foreign Experts
A. Teachers from the US, the UK and other English-speaking countries, with English as the mother-tongue, and with a master’s/PhD degree are needed. Those having PhD degrees, well achieved in academic research and with the title of associate professor can apply as high-leveled professionals.
B. Field or Orientation of Research: English and American Literature, Linguistics, translation and studies of countries and areas.
