At 4:00 p.m. on December 2, 2021, the “2 + 2” undergraduate joint training project of Nankai University and University of Wales Trinity Saint David was officially launched in the academic lecture hall of the College of Foreign Languages. Zhu Wei, vice president of University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Zhang Xian, director of Beijing Office of East Asia office, Li Yuelin, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Nankai University, Zhou Shen, deputy director of Academic Affairs Department of Nankai University, and Yan Guodong, Dean of College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, attended the meeting. Wang Kai, vice president of the College of Foreign Languages, presided over the launching ceremony.
First of all, Yan Guodong, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, praised University of Wales Trinity Saint David for its long and time-honored history. In order to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to study abroad during the semester, the two universities have, after years of intensive negotiation and open communication, overcome the interference of the epidemic and finally reached a cooperation agreement after a difficult and tortuous process. He wished the project to be implemented as soon as possible and congratulated the students on their academic achievements.
Director Li Yuelin of the department of International Cooperation and Exchange and deputy director Zhou Shen of the department of Academic Affairs congratulated the success of the “2 + 2” undergraduate joint training project, hoping that the project can have lasting, stable and long-term development and cultivate high-quality talents with capacities for cross-cultural communication, serving the national strategy and international cooperation and exchange.
Subsequently, Zhang Xian, director of East Asia Office of University of Wales Trinity Saint David, made a project introduction. He gave a detailed explanation of the history of the university, campus life, schools and departments, specialties of the “2 + 2” project, educational concept, teachers, accommodation, scholarship and other aspects.
Finally, Zhu Wei, vice president of University of Wales Trinity Saint David, delivered a concluding speech. President Zhu introduced the advantages of the joint training program and the career prospects and policies of further education, and expressed his best wishes to the students who are about to enroll in the program. Next year marks the 200th anniversary of University of Wales Trinity Saint David. In the past 200 years, the university has made brilliant achievements. It is hoped that, with the joint efforts of teachers and students of both universities, greater success will be achieved in the next 200 years.
The directors of the departments of English and Translation, the director of the Undergraduate Teaching&Administration Office and nearly 100 students majored in English and Translation attended the launching ceremony online and offline.
