In order to help students to enhance their awareness of career planning, motivate their growth and improve foreign language skills, “‘Seize Victory in the Work Place through being Greatly Strengthened by the Foreign Language’: 2021 Training Camp for Enhancing Occupational Skills in terms of Foreign Languages of College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University” which includes a series of activities formally began on April 1st. And more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students participated in this event.
The first lecture with the topic of “career awareness and self-exploration” was held on the same day. The college invited Han Shaoping, student career instructor of Tsinghua University and entrepreneurship mentor of TusHoldings Innovation Incubator in Tsinghua University science park to deliver a report entitled “College Student Career Planning----Personal Values and Leadership Exploration.”
In the lecture, Han Shaoping elaborated the significance of self-exploration according to her personal experience. She stated that people were independent individuals. Thus, students are supposed to take a perspective of themselves to consciously guide themselves and make decisions on their own. And when facing challenges, students should properly cope with their personal feelings in an active attitude, through which students can possess an opener mentality and more possibilities. Students should recognize that pains and setbacks can grant people with considerable gains, and thus supposed to learn from their former experiences. She also made an analysis targeted at students based on their test results of the “personal distinguishing characteristics questionnaire”, guiding students to discover and know themselves.
Through exchange and interaction, students widely shared their perceptions and reflections. They drew inspiration during this process and accurately and completely recognized their personalities and characteristics of behaviors.
It is reported that this series of activities of training camp will last for a month. In addition to lectures related to the career planning topic, the college arranged various contents of courses, such as the training of occupational skills, training of recruitment and examination of teachers and the mock interview contest of teacher recruitment and examination. The course will provide knowledge of career planning and occupational skills necessary for foreign language majors through the combination between teaching and practice, training and talking with experts, professional test and targeted instruction. And students are hoped to comprehensively improve their career abilities and find an employment in a higher quality through the training in this camp and their own efforts.
