On April 8th, the Drama Festival of College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University kicked off in Tian Jiabing Music Hall with the topic of “The Play: World Inside and Youth Outside” and attracted many students to see the performance. Supervisors of students in the class of 2020, Jiang Min, Xiao Yin and Wang Chengxu and Wang Ziyu, instructor of the same class attended this activity and assumed judges.
In this activity, taking the department as the unit, undergraduate students in the class of 2020 in College of Foreign Languages put on performances of many plays with rich genres and pluralistic forms from different countries and regions. There were magnificent performance of Macbeth, historical reproduction of The Flowers of War, and excellent classical works, such as, Cleopatra and The Great Gatsby. The activity fully blended foreign language knowledge and cultural diversity into the drama performance, bringing a grand cultural banquet which was remarkable for both voice and expression to teachers and students.
Finally, Cleopatra, jointly performed by students from three departments, namely Arabic Department, Portuguese Department and Italian Department, moved the judges and audience and win its laurels in this drama festival through its faithfulness to the original work with vivid construction of characters and excellent performance.
As the brand activity of Nankai Foreign Language Festival, the Drama Festival displays the style of multilingual majors and the quality of foreign language talents in College of Foreign Languages in the form of “students playing a leading role and performing on their own.” It also gives full play to students’ specialized knowledge of foreign languages, improves their humanistic quality, encourages them to be foreign language talents who possess international vision, Chinese sentiment and Nankai character.
