Professor Zhang Zhizhong's English Translation of Li Bai Quatrains was recently published by The Commercial Press International Co., Ltd. The book selected a total of 191 quatrains by Li Bai, and adopted two translation methods: free verse translation and translating poetry in the poetic way. In the form of free verse translation, he concentrates on presenting the meaning and artistic conception of Li Bai’s quatrains in authentic and fluent English, and strives to make the spirit that lingers on casual; By using the poetic way to translate, through branching and pause, he highlights the poetry, rhythm and sensibility, which allows readers to read not only English translation of poems, but also poetry that combines the characteristics of both Chinese and English. It is both vivid and unlimited by the form, raising the English translation of Chinese poems to the height of English poems.

Professor Zhang Zhizhong is currently the head of the translation department of our college. He has published more than 100 editors, translations, and works, as well as more than 100 academic papers, and presided over 2 National Social Science Fund projects and 1 key project of Tianjin Social Science Fund. The English translations of Chinese poems are mostly going global, and are widely praised by famous poets and translators at home and abroad.
