March 5th, 2021 is the 123rd anniversary of the birth of the outstanding alumnus of Nankai University, Zhou Enlai. The Alumni Association of our college held a calligraphy donation ceremony for the famous calligrapher and painter Mr. Gu Jinming on March 4th in memory of the great achievements of Premier Zhou Enlai.
Mr. Gu Jinming is a distinguished Chinese calligrapher and painter and acted as the secretary of Zhou Enlai, the founding prime minister, the first national protocol officer of the People’s Republic of China, the founder of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and the chairman of China Zhou Enlai Research Association.
Zhao Wei, the president of the Alumni Association, Xu Chaoyou, Vice President, Chen Xiaoyu, Deputy Secretary-General, An Zhenhuan, Cai Yintong, Xing Yuanyuan, Li Shuihong and other alumni, Xu Bing, Director of the Special Fund Office of China Zhou Enlai Research Association, and Guo Meilan, Foreign Affairs Assistant of Mr. Gu Jinming, Ma Hongqi, deputy dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, as well as Zhao Guoqiang, director of the Alumni Affair Office, participated in the event.
At the donation ceremony, Mr. Gu Jinming donated the calligraphy written by Premier Zhou Wish to meet with you when China prospers in the world to our college and the Alumni Association, to express his admiration and respect for Zhou Enlai and send best wishes to Nankai University.
Ma Hongqi, deputy dean of the College of Foreign Languages, and Zhao Wei, the president of the Alumni Association, accepted the donation on behalf of the college and the alumni association, and issued a donation certificate to Mr. Gu Jinming and the souvenirs from Zhuang Lang Town, Gansu Province, engraved Reading for the rise of China and Wish to meet with you when China prospers in the world .
After listening to the 89-year-old Mr. Gu telling the unforgettable years of working under the leadership of Premier Zhou, the attending teachers, students and alumni felt that they have learnt a lot and all expressed their desire to follow the example of Zhou Enlai and be a person with Nankai character like Premier Zhou.
