In order to further explore the new model of college students’ volunteer service and practice education in the new era and promote exchanges and mutual learning among volunteer service organizations in colleges and universities, on the afternoon of the 20th, March, College of Foreign Languages held “Accompanied by Volunteers on the New Journey after the Century of the University” National Exchange Meeting for Volunteer Service Organizations in Colleges and Universities in the form of online meeting. More than 40 student representatives from Fudan University, Tianjin University, Shandong University, Shanxi Normal University, Dalian University of Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University and student representatives from Nankai University attended the meeting and exchanged with each other. Li Wenru, Secretary-general of the Social Practice and Volunteer Service Supervision Center in Committee of Communist Youth League of Nankai University and people in charge of the Committee of Communist Youth League of College of Foreign Languages simultaneously participated in this activity.
At the meeting, Li Wenru initially extended a very warm welcome to representatives of volunteer service organizations who attended the meeting. She emphasized that Nankai University had a fine tradition of guide teachers and students to serve the major development strategy of the Party and the country, persisted in integrating the scientific research with tackling problems and works like volunteer service of college students into nation building. She hoped that this exchange meeting could strengthen the mutual understanding of organizations of youth volunteers among universities and colleges across the country and promoted the communication, cooperation and resource sharing between each other.
Representatives of each volunteer service organization from universities and colleges introduced volunteer service project with their distinguishing characteristics one by one, sharing valuable experience in related works such as the support of COVID-19 fighting, volunteering to the public education, activities of aiding the disabled and social services. In the free talk section, representatives fully discussed the problems pertinent to how to realize the better combination of volunteer service and specialties in universities and colleges, how to efficiently hold activities during the prevention and control of COVID-19, and how to conduct the volunteer recruitment and publicity.
At the end of this meeting, the person in charge of the Committee of Communist Youth League of College of Foreign Languages made a summary of the meeting. He thought that this exchange meeting for volunteer service organizations in colleges and universities is a beneficial attempt to explore the development model of volunteer service organizations in universities and colleges in the new era. The holding of the exchange meeting set up a platform for each volunteer service organization from colleges and universities to display projects, allocate resources, organize and communicate and give cultural guidance. College volunteers should be based in the new era, display their novel accomplishments, enhance the volunteer service spirt of “dedication, fraternity, mutual help and progress”, proceed with writing “Lei Feng’s story” in the new age with actual performance and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party with a youthful look.
It is reported that on the basis of this meeting, volunteer service organizations in universities and colleges will continue to exchange experiences and share information in terms of the volunteer service and establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, advancing the development of volunteer service in universities and colleges together.
