The College of Foreign Languages Takes Various Measures to Promote the Improvement of the Graduate’s Employment Quality from All Directions

Since May of this year, closely centering on the target of talent cultivation, “practitioners of foreign affairs, researchers of international issues, communicators of human civilization and providers of language services” and depending on series of activities of “Career Development Creation Camp”, the College of Foreign Languages has laid emphasis on national strategic orientation and guidance of the flow of the graduate, provided multiple employment channels and promoted the improvement of the graduate’s employment quality from all directions in 2021.

Early Planning: Career planning makes students have the upper hand over others in employment. The college devotes itself to guiding students in starting their career planning, helping them correctly find their niche in life in order to let students process advantages over others in employment and be more than equal to it. The Center of Career Development comprehensively concluded a treasured book of career planning for post-graduate students in the Welcoming Lecture, starting the career planning guidance in advance. The college also invited Wei Wei, an off-campus mentor of the enterprise and certification teacher in Huawen Enneagram system to give an offline career planning lecture entitled “Enneagram and Career Planning” which aimed to awake students’ self-awareness, self-consciousness, self-taught capability and facilitated students to give full play to their advantages in the disposition and overcome its limitations.

Peers Help: Experience sharing meeting broadens the employment horizons of students. Upholding the idea of “understanding students’ demands and serving students”, the Center of Career Development in the College of Foreign Languages has held a lot of experience sharing meetings which covers various fields including civil servants, assigned graduates, teacher authorization and international organizations since the fall semester and invited schoolmates graduating from our college to share their experiences of seeking employment, their working perceptions and career development path, make an in-depth analysis of related policies and answer students’ questions and remove their doubts. Experience sharing meetings passed on the power of good examples. With the guidance of peers, students broadened their views and gained the most eager employment experiences and a deep understanding of the industry which they were interested in.

Expanding the Employment Channels: Efficient information releasing enhances the availability of posts. The college actively built a bridge for obtaining employment information, released the content of activities through the WeChat Official Account of “NK College of Foreign Languages” and precisely delivered the recruitment information to the graduate through Internship and Employment WeChat Group with “no postponement and no distance.” The Center of Career Development in the College of Foreign Languages collected, gathered and sifted the employment demands of enterprises and accurately released information, which covered many aspects such as media, education, finance, retail and colleges and universities in time. And that greatly solved students’ difficulties of collecting information and their problems of narrow employment directions, enhanced the availability of employment posts and expanded employment channels.

Promoting the Development: Taking multiple measures enhances students’ overall ability of employment. Through holding various activities related to employment, the Center of Career Development in the College of Foreign Languages freed students from obstacles when they are seeking employment in several aspects such as mentality adjustment, making the résumé, interview techniques and skills for getting internship and taking office in the international organization. Making use of the Student Development Office, full-time cadres for employment provided résumé modification and one-on-one career consulting services on every Tuesday and Friday and, at the same time, shared the employment knack in making the résumé and attending an interview through the WeChat Official Account of “NK College of Foreign Languages”. The Center of Career Development in the College of Foreign Languages also undertook 2020 Internship and Taking Office in the International Organization Training Camp in Nankai University which improved students’ ability to get internship and take office in the international organization through experience sharing, lecture given by distinguished guests, skills training and mock interviews.

It is reported that the College of Foreign Languages will take various measures simultaneously, continuously further the deep ploughing and intensive cultivation of employment instruction and firmly strengthen the employment service in order to help graduates in 2021 possess strong belief in finding employment, carry themselves with ease and finally receive a satisfying offer.
