On the morning of February 11st, the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University held a special activity with the theme of Reading Together and Welcome New Year at the Academic Resource Center of the college. Hosted by Hu Jun, deputy dean of the College of Foreign Languages, the leaders, teachers and students staying in the university participated in the activity.
Mu Xiangwang, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages, extended Chinese New Year greetings to all teachers and students, and encouraged them to make full use of the Spring Festival holiday to make good plans and seize every minute of their youth. Yan Guodong, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, used three key words moving, proud, and innovation to summarize the fruitful achievements of the teachers and students in the difficult Year of the Rat. Ma Hongqi, deputy dean of the College of Foreign Languages, Wang Kai, deputy dean, and Xiang Yu, deputy secretary of the party committee and deputy dean, sent blessings for the Year of the Ox and hoped all teachers and students can work hard and gain achievements in the new year!
Professor Liu Yuzhen, the representative of teachers staying in the university and the tutor of PhD students of the Japanese Department, quoted Su Shi's phrase Home is where the heart is to indicate that our college is a big family and it is also meaningful to celebrate the New Year together. Yu Jun, a teacher of the Japanese Department, uses the flower language of chamomile “tenacious and growing up in adversity” to wish everyone a propitious and happy New Year.
The students who stayed in the university were very grateful for the ardent care of the college and all expressed that they would remember the instructions and pay attention to safety to spend a meaningful Spring Festival in Nankai University. Lin Nana, a 2017 PhD student representative, said that she truly felt the warmth of the university and the college even if it was the first time that she celebrated the Spring Festival in the university. In the new year, with the blessings of family, teachers and friends, she will work hard on the academic work. Kong Xuening, a 2018 undergraduate student, said that she has devoted herself to the volunteer activities of family education for two consecutive years, and she will definitely live up to her youth and will continue to provide free teaching and guidance for the children of front-line medical staff and children in poverty alleviation areas, and grow with them together.
Subsequently, the leaders of the college distribute the gifts such as New Year red envelopes and other holiday gifts to the students. The college of Foreign Languages, gorgeous!, the special activity came to an end in a group photo. After the activity, the students exchanged their reading experience during the winter vacation.
The reason why this activity was chosen to be held in the Academic Resource Center was that most of the students stayed on campus for research papers. The renovation of academic resource center of the college has just been completed and all the students have high expectations. When it is officially opened, it will provide a more comfortable learning environment with higher-quality software and hardware facilities, which integrates information review, academic improvement, and multi-person seminars.
It is said that our college attaches great importance to the Spring Festival condolences. The leaders of the college personally went to the families of retired faculty and paid visit to sick faculty members to give special condolences before the festival and exchanged views on the construction and development of the college. This on-site activity is also one of the Spring Festival condolence activities.
