At 9 a.m. on January 16, 2021, the launch Event of WeChat official account and logo of the RightOempower English Teaching Team co-sponsored by English Department of the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University, Foreign Language Education and Teacher Development Research Center, was held on the Tencent Conference platform. Professor Yan Guodong, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University, Professor Wang Zhuo, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Shandong Normal University, Dr. Chang Xiaoling, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and Dr. Li Huiqin, Director of Higher English Education Publishing Branch, attended the launch event as special guests. Wang Jingping, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Xiaozhuang University and Wang Kai, Vice Dean of our college also attended the event.
More than 60 teachers from over 20 universities, such as Nankai University, Sichuan University, Ocean University of China, Southwest Jiaotong University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Wuhan University of Technology, Tianjin Normal University, Hebei Normal University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao Agricultural University, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Shandong Normal University, Tianjin University of Commerce, Qujing Normal University, Nanjing Xiaozhuang University, Shenyang Ligong University, Zhengzhou University of Commerce, 3 teaching and research teams, some masters and doctors, as well as members from Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, participated in this event.
The launch event was presided over by Associate Professor Hao Yunzhi, Dean of the English Department of the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University, and contained three main agenda items. Hao Yunzhi, dean of English department, first invited professor Yan Guodong to give a speech and announced the official launch of the WeChat official account and the logo of the The RightOempower English Teaching Team. Then, he fully affirmed the innovation and practicality of the RightOempower English Teaching and pointed out that in the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Foreign Languages disciplines of Nankai University, the establishment of the official account demonstrated the enthusiasm, determination and confidence of our college in teaching reform and talent training.
In the second item of the launch event, Dean Hao invited Chang Xiaoling, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press to deliver a speech. The deputy editor-in-chief highly praised the teaching and research efforts and achievements of the RightOempower English Teaching Team and claimed that the WeChat official account skillfully used information technology, which creates a valuable platform to enable more universities to explore teaching innovation, develop teaching and learning, and realize the integration of teaching and research.
Then, Professor Zhang Wenzhong, the leader of the RightOempower English Teaching Team, the director of the Foreign Language Education and Teacher Development Research Center of the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University, the creator and head of the WeChat official account, as well as the doctoral supervisor, interpreted the design philosophy of the logo from three aspects, namely composition elements, pattern design and color design, and briefly explains the operation of the official account. The logo consists of the four initials (F, Q, Z, N) of Chinese phonetic alphabets of the name of the team, which contains open, the root system of growth at the bottom of F and Q, F, which stands for new green leaves, and Q, which symbolizes love for education, N, the booster rocket, clock and other creative elements. The RightOempower teaching starts in Nankai University and belongs to the whole society and it is committed to serving the education and teaching of foreign language teachers nationwide and even around the world, including future teacher training. The color Purple of Nankai Heliotrope stands for the Hope to be Vigorous and Green, and all teachers and colleagues are hoped to utilize the teaching method cannily to help students increase their energy rapidly.
So far, more than 1,400 teachers and students from over 140 cities at home and abroad have followed the WeChat official account which has tried to launch the first section Coups for Foreign Language Teaching pushed to the account at noon every day. The official account of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press HEEP and that of the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University NK College of Foreign Languages will repost the articles. On the occasion of the launch event, Professor Zhang Wenzhong expressed his sincere gratitude to the relevant units, scientific research teams, leaders, colleagues, postgraduate students, PhD students and teachers and students who pay attention to and support for the establishment of the WeChat official account of the RightOempower English Teaching.
Associate Professor, Hao Yunzhi finally summarized the achievements of the RightOempower English Teaching Team in recent years, and hopes that under the leadership of the college, with the support and the joint efforts of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press together with foreign language teachers, the WeChat official account platform can be used to make greater contributions to language teaching. Eventually, the event ended with the warm applause and eager anticipation of the participants.
