On December 11th, the graduation ceremony of 2020 Internship and Taking Office in the International Organization Training Camp in Nankai University was held in Balitai campus. Gong Ke, President of World Federation of Engineering Organizations, Executive Dean of Chinese Institute of New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Strategies, former President of Nankai University was invited to give a lecture on a specific topic, talking freely with more than 100 students face to face about his working experience in the international organization and his reflections on it.
In the lecture, the theme of which was “Mission and Responsibility of Young People in Major-Country----Talking about Young Talent Cultivation for International Organization”, Gong Ke started with his reflections on taking office in the international organization and put forward six requirements based on the introduction of classification, status and functions of international organizations: Students were supposed to 1) judge the international situation correctly; 2) be deft at using international discourse; 3) serve members of the organization; 4) adhere to its regulations; 5) be courageous in and be good at persistence; and 6) make contributions through their own capabilities.
Gong Ke encouraged students to insist the view of a community with a shared future of all mankind, have a good grasp of international rules and observe moral standards on the basis of seeing the international situation clearly, and hoped them to follow the example of Zhou Enlai, the most outstanding Chinese diplomat, and become international talents who are conversant with China’s and oversees’ conditions and major world events.
In the graduation ceremony, Professor Gong Ke issued appointment letters to instructors of International Organization Training Camp and people in charge of related units issued honorary certificates to outstanding students. Teachers and students in this ceremony exchanged and interacted with each other about problems related to getting internship and taking office in international organizations.
It is reported that Internship and Taking Office in the International Organization Training Camp in Nankai University has been successfully held three times since 2018 and has successively recommended dozens of students to many international organizations, such as Foundation for Peace and Development, The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Population Fund. This year’s Internship and Taking Office in the International Organization Training Camp, which was hosted by the Office of International Cooperation in Nankai University and Student Career Center of Nankai University and was undertaken by the College of Foreign Languages. It held a lot of activities, such as the Second Public Class of United Nations’ Organizations Skill Training, Former Minister-counselor of the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of The People's Republic of China in France, Ma Yansheng’s lecture on special topic, International Organization Knowledge Competition, Online Senior Students’ Experience Sharing Meeting and the Mock Interview in the Form of Leadless Group Discussion in terms of Internship and Taking Office in the International Organization, from October 30th to December 11th. And It aimed to guide students who aspired to this kind of jobs in getting internship or taking office in international organizations and realizing their dreams on the international stage through the overall cultivation of the training camp.
