On the evening of October 30th, the 2020 Training Camp for Internships in International Organizations of Nankai University was inaugurated both in B206 of the second main building of Balitai campus, and in C503 of the public teaching building of Jinnan campus. It aims to lead students to actively serve the national strategy, enhance students' global competence, accelerate the training of outstanding graduates to take up internships in international organizations, and realize their dreams on the international stage. This training camp is hosted by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the Student Employment Guidance Center in Nankai University, and is undertaken by the College of Foreign Languages. Xiang Yu, deputy party secretary and deputy dean of the College, attended the opening ceremony. More than 100 campers participated in the activities.

Xiang Yu hopes that through this all-round training camp, students will know more about international organizations, deepen their understanding of the requirements of “international civil servants”, improve their abilities in a targeted manner, and obtain relevant practical guidelines to applications, interviews, and practical problems, so as to cultivate more prominent Nankai students who can go to international organizations for internships or work and train more international talents with practical experience for the country. The university has been working to open up channels and expand platforms for students, constantly strengthen communication and contact with various international organizations, and recommended students to take part in internships at international organizations such as the Peace and Development Foundation, the Joint United Nations Program on AIDS, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

After the opening ceremony, the students watched the second session of the UN public consultation and public lecture. In the open class, representatives of UNHCR, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations respectively introduced the job description, core competence, resume writing, and then shared some interview skills.

It is said that the Training Camp for Internships in International Organizations has recruited more than 100 students from 9 schools including the College of Foreign Languages, the School of Economics, and the Zhou Enlai School of Government. In addition to the skills training class on the evening of the opening ceremony, the training camp also offers rich activities such as knowledge contests about international organizations, dummy interviews, special lectures, and experience sharing, which provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the basic information of the international organizations as well as the methods and requirements of applying for internships or employment positions in international organizations. It is hoped that through the training and their own efforts, students will eventually become people with Nankai characteristics who possess professional skills, international vision, and become familiar with international rules and proficient in international negotiation.
