College of Foreign Languages Launched a Talent Competition Themed “Inherit the Spirit and Share the Glory of NKU”

On October 16th, a talent competition themed “Inherit the Spirit and Share the Glory of NKU” was launched by College of Foreign Languages in the hall of the Seventh Building. Through the display of class style of the freshmen, this competition aims to celebrate the new centenary of Nankai University, to provide opportunities for new students to confess their love to the motherland and alma mater, and to encourage them to enhance their sense of collective honor and sense of belonging.

In this activity, the performances of new postgraduate students possess their distinctive characteristics and contain rich forms, such as class chorus, recitation, sitcom, dance, and video presentation. Besides, many classes also combined their own professional expertise, incorporating features of foreign languages into the performances, such as the poem recitation and video blessings of the English Interpretation Classes, sitcoms of English Language and Literature (Glasgow) Class, and Japanese song medley of Japanese Language and Literature Class—all of these were well-prepared and outstanding, winning continued applause from the audience. In addition, a knowledge contest was held after the performance. The topics ranged from the history of Nankai University and of the city of Tianjin, as well as knowledge of epidemic prevention. This was to help freshmen understand the history of the university and the college, make them adhere to the motto of the university, and summon the Nankai spirit of patriotism and love for the community. The students participated enthusiastically and answered the questions actively. Finally, the 2020 Japanese Interpretation Class won the first prize, the Japanese Language and Literature Class won the second prize, and the Foreign Linguistics and Applied Language and Literature Class and the English Interpretation Class 2 won the third prize.

During the process, the postgraduate students fully demonstrated their good spirits and class styles, and deepened their senses of belonging and pride on the motherland and Nankai University. They claimed that they would strive to be persons with Nankai spirits in the new century and stivers in the new era, bravely shoulder their missions as they stand at the beginning of the new centenary of NKU carrying with them the great spirit, and contribute the energy of youth to the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
