College of Foreign Languages of Hebei University Came to Visit

On October 20th, a group of six people headed by the dean Ye Huijun from College of Foreign Languages in Hebei University visited College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University for research and exchanging ideas on the educational reform of the Foreign Language + talent training model. Dean of our college Yan Guodong, deputy dean Wang Kai, and director of Teaching and Research Office Li Dongyuan attended the meeting.

Firstly, Yan Guodong introduced the historical evolution and purpose of College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, as well as the missions and actions of the teachers and students under the background of new liberal arts. Then, Wang Kai gave a comprehensive and illustrated introduction to the college’s unique non-universal language majors and humanities and social sciences compound dual-degree international talent training project (FAS project), including a detailed explanation in the training objectives, operation mode, the characteristics and implementation of the project. He emphasized that the FAS project is not only foreign language+, but a two-way interdisciplinary and a win-win cooperation between colleges, tailored programs, a larger pattern of training top-notch talents, and the pursuit of higher and more effective channels for the output of compound talents. Last but not least, Li Dongyuan provided a detailed explanation on specific issues such as the formulation of training program and the scheduling of classes.

The visitors from College of Foreign Languages in Hebei University listened attentively to the reports and inquired in detail about the policy support, implementation details, and training effect of the program. Both sides conducted extensive and in-depth interactions on some major issues. Ye Huijun said that they have gained a lot through this visit: Not only did they expand their thoughts on reform and learn some experience in education, but also did they feel the vigor and responsibility of people here who are determined to forge ahead and innovate. She hoped to strengthen the cooperation between the two colleges in order to seek common development, and make joint contributions to the training of national foreign language talents!
