On the evening of June 24, 2020, Professor Yi Bin from Changsha University of Science and Technology, visited Nankai University’s Mu Dan Academy. Professor Yi is a famous research scholar of Mu Dan, and a prominent social science expert and academic leader in Hunan Province. On the topic of “Mu Dan and his Time”, Professor Yi introduced the close relationship between Mu Dan and Southwest Associated University, Tianjin, and Nankai University, demonstrated Mu Dan’s great achievements in poetry and translation, analyzed the artistic features of Mu Dan’s poetry. This lecture was the first one of a series of lectures themed humanistic quality at Mu Dan Academy of Nankai University, which opened the prelude to a series of activities such as teacher guidance, peer collaboration, and communication with mentors. The lecture was held online, presided over by Professor Yan Guodong, Dean of Mu Dan Academy and Dean of the College of Foreign Languages. It lasted more than three hours with more than 100 teachers and students participating in.
Before the lecture, Professor Yan Guodong introduced the purpose, characteristics and activities of the Academy. Drawing from the characteristics of the College of Foreign Languages, the Academy regards holistic education as its purpose, makes efforts to build a community of teacher-student development that focuses on learning, promotes interdisciplinary and diversified integration, and is committed to cultivating students into socialist builders and successors of the new era who possess superb professional knowledge, profound humanities, international vision, Chinese sentiment and Nankai character.
