In order to commend foreign talents who have made outstanding contributions to the city’s economic and social development, the Municipal People’s Government of Tianjin has, according to the relevant provisions of the Tianjin Haihe Friendship Award Selection Rules, earlier gone through the procedure of application, department review, expert review, and public summons, and decided recently to award the 2020 Tianjin Haihe Friendship Award Nomination to Letizia Vallini, a foreign teacher from the Italian Department at the College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University.
The city of Tianjin implements a series of important expositions on talent work by General Secretary Xi Jinping, attaches great importance to recruiting talents from worldwide, and vigorously gathers foreign talents to make contributions to the city’s economic and social development. All districts, departments, and units must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Plenary Sessions of the 19th Central Committee, and put into practice General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important requirements of the three efforts and the spirit of a series of important instructions, stick to the new development concept, use innovation-driven and reform and opening as the two wheels to deepen the reform of the scientific and technological system and accelerate the commercialization and application of scientific and technological achievements, set up the systems and mechanisms that encourage and support basic research and original innovation, improve the discovery, training, and incentive mechanisms for scientific and technological talents, and gather talents from worldwide, which will provide powerful intellectual support for the in-depth implementation of the country's major strategy and the realization of the one base and three districts positioning.
