During the pandemic, Zhang Yawen, a PhD student and probationary member of the Party, devoted herself to working as a tutor of the children of front-line health workers as well as fighting to prevent the coronavirus from re-entering the country at the frontline alongside with a number of NKers. Her actions embody the Nankai spirit--dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability and aspiration for daily progress,
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Communist Youth League School had posed a help wanted sign--community volunteer tutors--for A Tribute to People Who Brave a Dangerous Situation Zhang Yawen immediately signed up and helped Taotao with English with a cumulative duration of nearly 130 hours. With the help of her, the student made great progress in English. Taotao's parents were delighted and extended their thanks to Zhang Yawen for his changes.
As the input risks increased with the spreading of virus from overseas, it was imperative to form a translation volunteer group composing of teachers and students of the CFL. As the PhD of the English major and probationary member of the Party, Zhang Yawen and 42 teachers and students from the Department of German, Russian, Italian, French gather in no time to join the frontline. Up to now, the group had arranged altogether 23 trips and spent a cumulative duration of 240 hours serving over 140 persons, for answering their queries to enter a country and distributing and allocating them.
Apart from that, she took active part in the preparation of micro-classes related to the battle against the Covid-19 together with other members of the Doctoral Instructor Group, and launched a joint publicity activity of calling for college volunteers with over 50 universities including Tsinghua University. Besides the Nankai University session, she also joined some activities of other schools, fulfilling the social responsibility of staying true to the original heart and leading the mind followed by the Theoretical Publicity Society.
