Since the establishment of the seven major research centers, CFL has fully explored the potential of academic researches, improved teachers’ vitality in academic researches, actively organized various academic research activities, helped teachers declare various types of projects at all levels, and cultivated major key projects. With the endeavors of all teachers, successful project initiations have been reported frequently. 2019 continues to embrace the accelerating trend in recent years and a variety of projects have been scaled.
In 2018, CFL won one major project of the National Social Science Fund of China, one major project rolling funding of the National Social Science Fund of China, five projects of the National Social Science Fund of China, one post-subsidized project of the National Social Science of China, three humanities and social sciences projects of the Ministry of Education of China, and 5 projects of Tianjin Municipal Social Science Planning.
In 2019, 154 Foreign Translation of Chinese Academics Projects of the National Social Science Fund of China have been established nationwide in total, among which NKU took 5 and 4 of which were applied by teachers of CFL. Concise Reading of Chinese Culture, hosted by Zhao Chunmei, was funded by 250,000 yuan as general project. History of Contemporary Chinese Literature, hosted by Liu Jiping, was funded by 400,000 yuan as general project. A Cultural Interpretation of Russian Literary Canons, hosted by Jiang Min, was funded by 350,000 yuan as general project. History of Chinese Drama, hosted by Song Yinnan, was funded by 300,000 yuan as general project.
1 project of 2019 National Social Science Fund of China was approved. Li Min’s “On the Construction of the Disciplinary System of Foreign Language Education Studies: A Perspective from Systems Philosophy” was funded by 200,000 as the project of National Social Science Fund of China.
The approved project initiations of 2019 humanities and social sciences general projects of the Ministry of Education of China in NKU totalize 16, and CFL seizes one among them. Liu Jiping’s “Text Research of Roman Rolland’s Late Autobiography” was funded by 80,000 yuan from the Youth Fund Project.
In 2019, NKU attained 36 Tianjin Philosophy and Social Science Planning Projects, of which CFL occupied 7. Ruan Yufeng’s “Research on the Generating Grammar of Italian and Chinese Noun Quantification Structure” was awarded 20,000 yuan from the Youth Project; Hu Jing’s “The Construction of Chinese Image and Cultural Metaphor in Macao Native Literature” was awarded 20,000 yuan from the Youth Project; Li Xinghua’s “The study of Spanish Early Sinology Based on the Original Spanish Texts from the 16th to 17th Century” received 20,000 yuan from the Youth Project; Zhang Chen’s “The Research on the Influence of Mental Health of College Students on Foreign Language Learning” was awarded 35,000 yuan from the Youth Project; Liu Ziyu’s “The Cross-Cultural Study of Sino-Spanish Grateful Speech Acts Based on Corpus” was funded by a general project of 20,000 yuan; Ma Hongqi’s “Historical Writing and Cultural Memory of 20th Century American Campus Novels” was funded by a key project of 25,000 yuan. Hou Jie’s “19th Century American Literary Map and Marine Space Production” was awarded 20,000 yuan as general project.
At present, each research centers of CFL continues to pool their strengths, forges ahead, and strives to achieve more. Up to now, one teacher is known to have received the 2020 Youth Project of the Ministry of Education of China, 18 teachers have applied for the 2020 Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, and a group of young teachers are preparing for the 2020 Tianjin Philosophy and Social Science Planning Project Application. We have reason to believe that in the new year, through unremitting efforts and innovation, people of CFL will surely make new progress and achievements.
