On November 4, Prof. Carol O’Sullivan from the University of Bristol paid a visit to and delivered lectures in the CFL. Prof. Miao Ju, director of the Center for Translation Studies, chaired the lectures. Teachers and students from Nankai University, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin University of Commerce attended the lecture. Prof. Carol O’Sullivan's seminar ‘s lecture was about Research Trends in Translation Studies. She first introduced the turn of translation studies, the focus of western translation studies, and finally looked forward to future translation research trends.
On November 5th, Prof. Carol O’sullivan from the University of Bristol delivered a lecture on the topic On Publishing Articles in International Journals. The academic seminar was chaired by Prof. Miao Ju, and Prof. Xu Jianzhong, President of the College of Foreign Languages, Tianjin University of Technology was invited to attend the seminar. Teachers and other masters from Nankai University, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin University of Commerce participated in the it. Prof. Carol O’sullivan specifically gave a brief introduction to the magazine of Translation Studies, the procedures of publishing papers. What’s more, she emphasized the questions posed in the paper writing and the necessary particulars of an imposing article.
On November 6, she delivered a lecture titled On Writing the History of Audiovisual Translation. Prof. Carol O’sullivan expounded the development history of global audiovisual translation through some examples, ranging from the definition of subtitle translation and the audiences and introduced the topic was chosen.
After the seminar, Prof. Carol O’sullivan answered the questions raised by the students who benefited a lot.
