On 21 July, the opening ceremony of the China-visiting summer camp of American delegates from China-United States Exchange Foundation was held at CFL of NKU. 20 American teachers and students from Chicago Urban League came to China, reaching further exchange and communication with the teachers and students of CFL, participating in series of activities about discovering and knowing China. The summer camp is designed to improve the exchange between Chinese students and American students and promote the global development of CFL and NKU.
During the opening ceremony, the deputy dean of CFL, Wang Kai delivered a welcome speech to American delegates, expressing his hope that the friendly and significant exchange between Chinese students and American students can not only enhance their friendship, but also lay solid foundation for the relation between China and United States in the future.
Then, Madam Deng Weixian from China-United States Exchange Foundation, who in charge of this program, stated that the foundation is committed to promoting the international exchange between China and United States. She was glad to bring the teachers and students from Chicago Urban League to Nankai University, a noted and excellent university with 100-year-old history, and quite looked forward to the ensuing activities.
Next, the teacher representatives from Chicago Urban League, Jimi Orange and Shykira Richards, gave speeches, introducing that Chicago Urban League is a university with over 100 years’ history which highly values the international exchange. They also addressed that it’s the first time for most of their students to come to China, and they hoped they could achieve friendship from each other through various kinds of activities.
In the end, the student representative Sydney stated that she was so glad to communicate with students from CFL and was full of expectation for the following courses about Chinese culture in great variety.
The opening ceremony perfectly ended as all the participants took photo together in front of CFL. These foreign students will attend various Chinese culture courses such as Mandarin, paper-cutting, tea art and folk music, visit Chinese enterprises and taste traditional delicious food with Tianjin characteristics in the following 8 days.
