Throughout June 13th to 15th, 2019, the 18th symposium of China Society for Non-Universal Languages Teaching was hold in Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). It was co-sponsored by the Commission of teaching Instruction for Non-Universal Languages Teaching of high institutions under the Ministry of Education and China Society for Non-Universal Languages Teaching, and was co-organized by the College of Oriental Language and Literature, the Department of Western Language and the College of European, Asian and Russian Languages. Yang Lin, the director of the Department of Italy and Shi Dou, a teacher of the Department of Italy attended the symposium and delivered a speech.
Themed with “The Development of Non-Universal Languages against the Backdrop of “ Double-Top”, awards of the outstanding scientific discoveries in the 5th China forum of Non-Universal Languages were presented and keynote speeches were delivered in three sub-forum “Languages, Literature and Translation”, “ Ideological Politics Lessons and Teaching” and “ Nationality and Area Countries”. Yang Lin and Shi Dou attended the forum of Nationality and Area Countries”.
In the opening ceremony, the awarding ceremony for the outstanding scientific discoveries in the 5th China forum of Non-Universal Languages was hold. Shi Dou won the first prize by means of his translated work Cultural Evolution. It was the first time to won the same award since the founding of the Department of Italy and Portugal in 2017 in the NKU.
In the second day, Yang Lin and Shi Dou delivered a speech in relevant forums. Yang Lin gave a speech about Dear China, the author of whichwas Italian author Goffredo Parise depicting his emotional changes.
She stated that in 1966 when Goffredo Parise come to China, he began to relate what he had seen and heard in his book Dear China. She said that the book is not about the historical reality of China in that particular period, but how the author perceived expressed the image of China and whether the author accepted or refused the cultural identity or both. From the perspective of himself, Goffredo Parise affectionate with China unfolded the image of China. For him, like that of the novel, the author of travelogues is taken as the character. In other words, travelogue, an expression of foreign countries, was more about the values and cultural concepts of the author rather than the country where the author travels. Besides, as the commentator, she commented on the discussions and speeches.
Themed with The Prospect of Sino-Italian Third-Party Market Cooperation in Africa. Since 2016, the working mechanism for the third-party market cooperation between China and Italy has improved. During the state visit of President Xi Jinping to Italy in March, 2019, the first forum about the third-party cooperation between two sides was hold in Rome, a signal of making substantial progress in the third-party cooperation under the “One Road and One Belt” Initiative. Being an important strategic cooperation partnership, which concerns China and Italy, Africa should be taken as priority when promoting the third-party cooperation. This solid cooperation involved some key areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy and agriculture. For the cooperation in Africa, both sides remained committed to the equality and communication. With third-party concerned, new approaches for cooperation was developed in key areas, especially in finance which played a leading role. More efforts should be made to the platform building of the third party based on the bilateral dialogue mechanism.
It was said that more than 120 teachers of non-universal languages from 51 high institutions attended the forum. China Society for Non-Universal Languages Teaching, as a national academic organization of non-universal languages in high institutions, will held a symposium about the study and teaching of non-universal languages every two years.
