They were warmly welcomed by the National Normal University of Blagoveshchensk. Professor Gao delivered a speech on “Virtues of the Scholar--to Repsected Academician Tishkov”. In his report he introduced what Tishkov had achieved as an academician of Russian Academy of Sciences and ethnologist. He pointed out that Tishkov was enthusiastic about academic research and cared for the development of the younger generation, in addition, the basic research he carried out was very important to applied research. He also emphasized that Tishkov’s academic views were so thought-provoking that we were motivated to ponder what we could learn from the transformation of Russian society and from the development of Chinese society. Associate Prof. Jiang Min presented a report on Horizon Fusion: An Analysis of the Image of the coachmen in Both Chinese and Russian Literature. She analyzed the image of the coachmen in both Chinese and Russian literature based on the concept “horizon fusion” by phenomenological philosopher Gadamer to interpret the text. She found that the works of two sides on the same subject shared some commonality and analyzed from the image of the coachmen in those works. However, she added that the same image could quite different in Chinese and Russian literature since they were composed under different historical backgrounds. Therefore, the textual openness should be valued in interpreting the texts and communication between different culture should be strengthened. These two reports were well received by the participants, and our two teachers had in-depth exchanges with other participants.
