On May 11th, the sixth National Senior Forum for the Presidents or Directors from the German Departments of Universities and Colleges was held in Shandong University (Weihai), the theme of which was “Integrate Innovation and Quality Teaching to Promote Undergraduate Education”. It was sponsored by the Translation Institute of Shandong University (Weihai), Sino-German Humanities Exchange Research Center of Shanghai International Studies University, and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It was attended by a group of professors from some key universities like Prof. Shi Jian from Sichuan University, Prof. Kong Deming from Nanjing University, Prof. Zhao Jin from Tongji University, Prof. Chen Zhuangying from Shanghai International Studies University, and Prof. Li Yuan from Zhejiang University. In addition, Huang Wei, vice president from Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, as well as more than 70 experts and scholars from German Departments from all over the country participated in this forum.
The forum has been held for consecutive six years and attended by hundreds of presidents or directors from the German Departments of over 100 universities and colleges. Liu Guanlong, head of the German Department of the College of Foreign Languages of Nankai University, participated in this forum and talked with the experts and professors about talent cultivation, teaching reform, course innovation, and comprehensive development for the students in the German Department.
