Throughout May 18 to May 19, sponsored by the Chinese Association of European Studies and organized by the Department of Politics and International Relations and Center for German Studies at the Tongji University, the session of 2019 was held in the Tongji University.
Themed with “Europe at the Crossroads”, the session opened four forums--European Economy and its Governance, “One Belt and One Road” and Sino- European Cooperation, European Politics and Society, and European Diplomacy and Security. In the first day, Yang Lin and Shi Dou attended the “One Belt and One Road” and Sino- European Cooperation and European Diplomacy and Security.
Shi Dou delivered a speech on “Italian Policies towards Africa since Lenzi hold the Office”. He stated that Africa had always been a supporting partner in geopolitics and geo-economics for Italy for a long time. Since Lenzi came into office, Africa enjoyed some priorities in the strategic relations in the Italian external foreign relations. Especially pronouncing in the crisis of immigration, Italian-African relations reached a new level. At the time when a better understanding of their relations, Italy had made more active, systematic and sustainable policies towards Africa. As one of the most actively involved countries among the EU, Italy together with Africa would have more room for the security, peace, democratic progress and sustainable economic growth. It was believed that Italy would be taken as the bridge for a high level of sino-European development.
In the second day, Yang Lin as the representative of the sub-forum delivered the group report. This forum consisted of three parts: first, the meaning of “One Belt and One Road”; second, cooperation in different areas including the political relations between China and Europe, institutional, monetary and policy cooperation, and public relations for a new driver of promoting the sino-European cooperation.
It was said that the participants were more than 160 experts, scholars, teachers and students from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce, high institutions, Chinese and European research institutions. Against the backdrop of the complex international situation, more cooperation should be made between China and Europe which would protect the multilateral trading system. It was of great significance to guide against unilateralism and trade protectionism.
